Performance Objectives

Performance Objectives: Relevant for Papers P1 to P7 and Practical Experience Requirement

In order to qualify as an ACCA, a candidate needs to complete the practical experience requirement ("PER") in addition to passing the exams and completing the professional ethics module.

Performance Objectives ("POs") are ACCA's indicators of effective performance in the workplace. They establish the standards that you are expected to demonstrate. Go to http://www.accaglobal.com/students/acca/per/objectives to view the 9 essential and 11 optional POs under PER.

Then go to http://www.accaglobal.com/documents/examPERLink.pdf to view a summary of the links between the exams and the individual POs. Thus, if you are preparing for Paper P1 Professional Accountant (and all other papers since professionalism, ethics and governance are tested throughout the Professional Level), you may wish to read:
PO1: Demonstrate the application of professional ethics, values and judgement.
You must be fully aware of the ethics, values and standards that apply to you as a professional and make their application a consistent feature in all aspects of your work. This will include taking personal responsibility for your actions and decision making. You must both act and be seen to act ethically and with the utmost integrity.
PO2: Contribute to the effective governance of an organization
You will contribute to the effective governance of an organization by providing support and information which will enable the organization requested by senior management and/or decision making bodies in your organization. You must also ensure that the work carried out in your area of responsibility is in line with your organization's policies and procedures.
PO3: Raise awareness of non-financial risk
In your work, you will take steps to identify any potential risks, including the probability of their occurrence and the likely consequences. Dealing with identified risks may include informing others of the risks identified and deciding how the risk will be managed. You must be risk aware, but at the same time not afraid to take decisions and undertake activities which involve levels of risk which have been assessed as acceptable.
Student Accountant discussed PO1 in the May 2009 issue and PO2 & PO3 in the June/July 2009 issue.

P2 is linked to PO10 & PO11, P3 to PO7, PO8 & PO9, P4 to PO15 & PO16 and P5 to PO8, PO12, PO13 & PO14, P6 to PO19 & PO20 and P7 to PO17 & PO18.(Note PO8 is linked to both P3 and P5).
Student Accountant discussed PO7 & PO8 in the August 2009 issue, PO9 in the September issue and PO10 in the October issue. The digital issues can be read at http://studentaccountant.digitaleditions.co.uk/sept09/ .

BCU Updates

For those who are not so diligent in checking the "AFA dudes" facebook group. Here's the important updates to take note if you wish to go BCU to further your study in Master.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
BCU candidates, Latest update from BCU received 23 July 2009.

Please note there is a slight change in the tuition fees as these go up each academic year. For 2009/10 the tuition fee is £3360.

The cost of accommodation has gone up slightly, only because students will be here over 27 weeks instead of 25 weeks (over the 2 weeks of Christmas Break).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuition Fee (2009/10)
£3,360.00
Less 5% prompt payment
£168.00

£3,192.00

Accommodation (Sat 12 September - Fri 19 March)
£2,241.00

Bedding Packs
£25.00

Kitchen essentials
£10.00

Books & Materials
£100.00

Total Payable to Birmingham City University
£5,568.00
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If students are working, i suggest the more important one is to come for the travel agent briefing, because the visa experts are all there and they can advise you on the specific things that we are not in the position to do so.

If you cannot make it to the BCU briefing, i will try to get the BCU slides from the BCU people and email to you all via Ms Low.

Any other suggestions.

For both briefings 28th and 29th, parents of applicants may come.
For 28th there are ample space, prospective students/parents (tarcians) can come since its DKD.

For 29th, venue is challenging since it can house max 30 pax.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
LATEST UPDATE 27 July 09

Watch Your Words!

Watch your words or get SCREWED!!

There is a person who complain about the TARC system for being late in releasing the examination result, thus he describe the system as DILLY DALLY. I presume it carry the same meaning of SLOW. But because this DILLY DALLY only applicable to human therefore he is referring to the staffs in TARC and not the IT system....

So I urge everyone to mind your words, although you have the rights to complain but please have the courtesy do it in a good manner so the recipient will not take it in an offended way.....

Well those of you who read the wall post will understand much more further, as you can "see" the recipient's frustration!

H1N1 comes TARC ?

Ah.here come this topic again.Actually Im not willing to post such topic anymore. How to say it, this virus is quite annoying and troublesome. Perhaps, it restrict people freedom when being quarantine. No need I mention all of us know about that right?.Few days before, read from newspaper that H1N1 arrived wangsa maju sekyen 2 and this caused that particular class been closed down for futher inspection and prevention.

Sounds very near right to us right?.As wangsa maju not far from TARC only .Now finally TARC also attacked by this virus. But it is real or not..IM not so clear about that ,because Im heard from my friend.Thats why title there I put a question mark there. But this news quite fast spread out among student ,oh god it fast than the virus. But this good can increase student awareness. Now getting alot of people wearing mask now for own safe..Actually this virus quite powerful,it spread among people .possibly by mouth maybe.Every people or student they have to done their daily activity like go school ,workings imaging alots of people around LRT there been waiting for that .If virus attack there, Im sure we cant run away from there.

Maybe it is something we call about fate. Some my friend told me last nite ,he told me that is nothing for he to prevent unless for wear mask.Issue its wear mask now will show yourself very weird right? Because not much people doing so.if for your own good I dont think is weird.(Futher ME also haven start wear yet.haha).Back to TARC topic .what i heard from my friend is SBS and SOT also got such cases. But later on my another pal was coming out with another version.I think now important is be aware of notice board if there is any announce or read newspaper for more detail.

As I checked that day newspaper ,that is nothing about TARC.Since title is question mark .I will treat it as fake story 1st,wait for newspaper as I did not see any tutorial class been cancelled for this incident yet.BUT WHEN IT COMES REAL>THEN IT WOULD BE DANGER >BECAUSE THERE STUDENT LIVING AREA..

Story END THANKS FOR VIEWING.
